What Local and International Students Should Know about Security Courses in Perth

According to government studies, more security officers will be in demand over the next five years. Statistics compiled by MySkills.gov.au and supplied by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research showed that by 2020, job openings for security officers are expected to be between 25,000 and 50,000. This is indeed excellent news for those who are considering taking up security courses in Perth. By choosing this career pathway, it will be much easier for you to find employment once you graduate.

With many businesses and organisations looking for competent people who can help them protect their assets and clients, a lot of good employment opportunities certainly await graduates of security courses. To tell you the truth, however, these are not the only things students can expect once they have successfully completed the necessary requirements of their course.

The same government studies showed that the career outcomes for those who have successfully completed security officercourses are quite favourable. Of the number of people who were unemployed before starting these courses, about 31.3% of them were able to find employment after finishing the courses and 39.4% of them are now working as community and personal service workers. Also, the average starting salary for security officers in the country are at $56,400.

For international students who are currently staying in Australia and are interested in becoming security officers, do not feel left out. There are short non CRICOS registered security courses that you can take if want to work in the security industry in the future. The course content is basically the same and you will be able to learn the things you need to know and develop the skills needed to become a good and efficient security officer.

Take note, however, that as an international student, you can only take these courses during your free time or holidays. Being not CRICOS registered and lasting for only two weeks, you will not be able to qualify for a visa extension should you decide to take up these courses after previously completing an English language course, for instance. If you want to learn how you can pursue these short courses during your stay, it is advisable that you contact the school you want to enrol in so you will know exactly what you need to do.

Whether you are an international or a local student, taking up a course that will grant you Certificate II in Security Operations will certainly do wonders to your future career. So if you are looking to be part of the security industry, you should enrol now.
